Restore Relax Renew

With a holistic approach…I treat the symptoms with remedial deep tissue massage while bringing an overall sense of relaxation, healing and wellbeing.

A massage therapy session typically includes a combination of techniques depending on the  presenting condition and the desired outcome. A particular technique can be focused upon - if required.

  • Remedial massage techniques include focused trigger point therapy, myofascial release, active and passive stretching, and deep tissue massage. It encourages the release of muscle tightness, improves blood flow, tissue healing, reducing scar tissue and correct muscle activation and function. Ideal for treating compensatory/ lazy movement or holding patterns which can result due to injury or overuse. This type of massage is suited though not limited to back aches, headaches, neck pain, scar tissue from old injuries, recurring sports injuries, sciatica, frozen shoulder and repetitive strain injuries.

  • Sport and Remedial massages are very similar.

During a sports massage specific massage techniques are used to release specific muscles that might be overused during your sports training, and these techniques are similar to those used in a remedial massage. A professional massage therapist understands the muscles involved in the sport training. This knowledge is applied with targeted massage work based on the training load, so that you can remain injury free and at your absolute best for your event or sport.

  • Myofacial cupping technique involves the gliding of negatively pressurised cups over the body with the assistance of massage cream. Unlike all other massage techniques that use compression, the Myofacial Cupping Technique is unique in that it ‘lifts and separates’ soft tissue, known as negative or tensional pressure. This in turn can increase nutrient -rich blood supply to the tissue, while giving a gentle passive stretch to the underlying soft tissue.

The Myofacial Cupping Technique can provide profound benefits, particularly with assisting the body in maintaining Range of Motion, eliminating Myofacial Trigger Points and reducing restrictive and sometimes painful fascial adhesions commonly found from repetitive movement originating from sport and the workplace. By reducing facial adhesions, while encouraging optimal hydration levels of soft tissue, the Myofacial Cupping Technique can assist in reducing the incidence of injury and maintaining functional soft tissue.

  • The myofascia consists of the connective tissue that is intertwined as a web throughout the body, giving us our shape and supporting the skeleton. When this system is healthy, it distributes strain evenly so you don’t end up excessively loading one part of the body and causing injury. Restricted fascia limits movement, causes instability, chronic pain and feeing of heaviness in the body. This technique is good for relieving chronic pain, improving posture, increasing tissue hydration and improves muscular range of motion.

  • Swedish massage uses gentle, flowing technique to increase the blood flow to the muscles and improve tissue health. It calms the nervous system and promotes relaxation. Being more rhythmic, flowing and lighter, it is ideal for stress management and exhaustion recovery bringing about an overall sense of nurturing and wellbeing.

  • A gentle calming treatment aimed to assist the body’s immune system and reduce excess fluid build up due to a sluggish lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage is recommended for those needing to detox the body, eliminate excess fluid and aid in the recovery from illness and post-surgery.

  • Indian head massage, encourages the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, strengthening the nervous system. It helps regulate the function of the pineal and pituitary glands resulting in optimising the function of lungs, eyes, heart, colon, brain and stomach. It is great for improving stability and alertness. Head massage provides vital nourishment to all senses, promoting normal function.

It promotes a sound night sleep, treats and prevents headaches. It strengthens the hair-roots and keeps it healthy, soft and shiny. Warm oil can be used for the treatment. It can be done as a stand alone treatment incorporating – head, neck and shoulder massage or a shorter treatment as part of full body massage.

  • Recommended after the 1st Trimester.

Remedial and Swedish techniques that can be safely used during pregnancy are applied to reduce peripheral swelling, insomnia, muscle cramping, back strain, sciatica, glute and hip pain, stress and to help improve general well-being. The aim is to nurture and support you in your pregnancy.

What to expect when you book a massage appointment

  • When you book your initial massage appointment, you will be required to complete a confidential - Client Information Questionnaire, prior to your appointment.

You will receive an instant e-mail appointment confirmation. A day prior to your appointment you will receive an e-mail reminder.

  • Upon arrival you may be asked any follow up questions to ascertain areas of concern and a massage treatment plan is agreed upon. During the treatment I check for feedback on pressure, pain level etc. This is especially important for a deep tissue/remedial massage where a level of pressure is required to elicit a healing response.

Post treatment depending on the type of injury or presenting issues, duration and the response to the treatment, recommendations are made on any follow up required. I might also suggest stretches, exercises and breathing techniques that are beneficial as self-management tools to aid and encourage recovery.

HICAPS facility available. You are able to claim Health Fund Rebate, if your private health covers Remedial Massage. (Most health funds accepted - except Medibank Private).
